SAN FRANCISCO Deepchip.com, the EDA tool user Web site moderated by industry gadfly John Cooley, is offering a video of Synopsys Inc. executives talking about improvements made to the company's Hercules physical verification suite.
In the video, two Synopsys marketing executives talk in detail about what the company sees as Hercules' advantages over competitive products.
The executives call Hercules the "turnaround time champion" and the fastest production tool on the market, something that they acknowledge was not previously the case. The executives tell Cooley that Hercules now has advantages over the incumbent market leader, Mentor Graphics Corp.'s Calibre, in speed, layout-vs.-schematic check, integration with design tools and integration with superior optical proximity correction and phase shift mask tools.
The video was made at a late September Synopsys users group meeting in Boston, following a keynote by Synopsys Chairman and CEO Aart de Geus, who, Cooley said, highlighted improvements to Hercules.
The video can be seen on the Deepchip.com Web site.
