MANHASSET, N.Y. Analog and mixed-signal semiconductor supplier Catalyst Semiconductor Inc. reported net earnings of $0.93 million, or 5 cents per share on sales of $16.9 million for its second 2006 fiscal quarter ended Oct. 31. In the year-ago quarter, Catalyst earned $0.5 million, or 3 cents per share on sales of $14.7 million.
Catalyst (Sunnyvale, Calif.) reported gross margin of 38.0 percent, compared to 40.8 percent a year ago and 39.0 percent for the previous quarter. Second fiscal 2006 quarter margins were impacted by increasing price pressures in Asia.
Digital amplifier supplier Tripath Technology Inc. (San Jose) posted a net loss of $1.5 million, or 3 cents per share on sales of $3.5 million in its fourth fiscal 2005 quarter ended Sept. 30. In the year-ago quarter, Tripath lost $6.8 million, or 14 cents per share on sales of $3.3 million.
For the fiscal 2005 year ended September, Tripath posted a net loss of $10.0 million, or 19 cents per share on sales of $10.8 million.
The company expects first fiscal 2006 quarter sales of $2.8 to $3 million.
