SEOUL, South Korea South Korean wafer foundry DongbuAnam Semiconductor Inc. said Wednesday (Jan. 11) it has formed a strategic alliance with Alpha & Omega Semiconductor (AOS) Ltd. to supply non-memory chips used for controlling electric power in a broad range of electronics.
Under terms of the alliance, DonbuAnam will begin mass production of low-cost power Mosfet chips for the Silicon Valley-based fabless company by the third quarter of 2006, the company said in a statement. It will deploy a specialized process based on the AOS’s 0.35-micron process and trench technology to implement power devices operating at 10 volts or higher.
The company said it will also play a role in back-end processes such as packaging and modularization.
DongbuAnam officials declined to elaborate on production levels for AOS, but said most of the production will be allotted to Korean electronics manufacturers.
