BANGALORE, India SiRF Technology Holdings Inc. has acquired Impulsesoft, an India-based provider of Bluetooth stereo solutions and embedded software, for $15 million in cash and stock.
The acquisition makes Impulsesoft a wholly-owned subsidiary of SiRF (San Jose, Calif.). SiRF gains a second hub in India, adding to its 25-member VLSI design center in Noida. Impulsesoft is expected to help SiRF’s marketing efforts in Asia and Europe.
The deal also enhances SiRF’s ability to deliver and support value-added embedded software solutions to complement its GPS chip set solutions.
In a related development, SiRF launched a multi-function product line, SiRFLinkI, that combines GPS and Bluetooth capabilities in a single chip.
Founded in 1999, Impulsesoft is an associate member of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, currently employing 55. Impulsesoft software has been used in mobile phone, automotive and consumer products including naviPlay, a Bluetooth stereo adapter and remote control for the IPod.
Impulsesoft products include the iBTStack, an embedded Bluetooth protocol stack with intelligent middleware for voice and music co-existence; iWaltz, a platform enabling music streaming from mobile phones to Bluetooth stereo handsets; iWind, a Bluetooth multimedia solution for in-car entertainment, and, iWish, a Bluetooth wireless stereo headphone reference design and software.
