ZICHRON YAACOV, Israel Taiwan-based Winbond Electronics Corp. plans to expand its Israeli subsidiary with an investment of $25 million.
The Israeli unit founded in 1987 has 150 employees and generates an estimated $100 million in annual revenue. The Winbond unit claims to be the world’s largest maker of Super I/O components for desktop computers. It posted $1 billion in revenue in 2004.
Winbond acquired National Semiconductor’s Israeli activities in February 2005 for $65 million. Most of the 2006 investment will be used to expand development of analog technology for PCs, mobile computers and servers.
