MANHASSET, N.Y. Mixed-signal multimedia semiconductor supplier SigmaTel Inc. reported fourth-quarter earnings of $4.6 million, or 12 cents per share on sales of $82.0 million, compared to $19.5 million, or 52 cents per share on sales of $78.6 million in the year-ago quarter.
For 2005, SigmaTel (Austin, Texas) reported earnings of $35.9 million, or 95 cents per share on sales of $324.5 million, compared with $52.6 million, or $1.39 per share on sales of $194.8 million in 2004.
At the year's end, SigmaTel had cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments of $118.9 million, up from $107.3 million the end of the previous quarter.
The company said 85 percent of its revenue came from portable system-on-chip products, with the remainder from integrated and imaging components.
For the first quarter of 2006, SigmaTel expects sales of $52.0 to $60.0 million, with a loss of 10 to 17 cents per share.
