SAN FRANCISCO Giga Scale Integration Corp. said Tuesday (Feb. 28) that more than 22,000 IC designs have been estimated through ChipEstimate.com since its introduction in February 2005. The company claims more than 4,000 individual users.
ChipEstimate.com provides a free online version of Giga Scale's InCyte chip estimation tool, allowing users can start with the free "generic" version and purchase upgrades with silicon intellectual property (IP) and foundry data. The program was
expanded last December to include the complete portfolio of IP from Silicon & Software Systems Ltd.
"Chip estimation with accurate IP models is becoming more critical as mainstream semiconductor manufacturing technologies move to 130 nanometer, 90 nanometer and below," said Adam Traidman, president of Giga Scale (Cupertino, Calif.), in a statement. "Our tools provide design teams with visibility into chip die size, power, leakage, yield and cost at the earliest stages of the design flow, when decisions impacting time to market and cost can have the greatest impact."
