ZICHRON YAACOV, Israel Calling it a breakthrough in wireless Gigabit Ethernet, Israel-based Ceragon Networks Ltd. has introduced a product that doubles the speed of wireless communications for wireless and cellular carriers that want to provide data-rich services such as triple-play.
Called FibeAir IP-Max, the product enables high-capacity wireless communications between base stations and the main switch (backhaul) with capacities of 50 to 800 Mbps, about double the maximum previous speeds. The technology enables a communications speed that is almost as fast as optic fiber can provide.
Ceragon's solution expands the wireless conduit, which until now been unable to transmit massive amounts of data at high speed, for next-generation backhaul networks and Metro Ethernet network applications including WiMAX, WiFi, Triple play with IP-DSLAMs and cellular Internet. It has passed customer trials at phone companies and is now commercially available.
