MANHASSET, N.Y. Apple Computer Inc. has filed a second countersuit against Creative Technology Ltd., escalating its legal battle against the media player player rival, according to an Associated Press report.
The report was quoted as saying that in the new suit, Apple (Cupertino, Calif.) accuses Creative of infringing three of its patents related to displaying computer data, editing mobile data on a PC, and computer icons. The suit was reportedly filed June 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
Apple filed its first countersuit
against Creative (Scotts Valley, Calif.) in May, related to several other patents.
The countersuit was in retaliation for Creative suing Apple in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California (see May 15 story), charging the computer maker of allegedly infringing its patents for portable media player interfaces.
Creative also filed a complaint with the U.S International Trade Commission seeking to bar the import of Apple iPod products, which are assembled in China.
