SANTA CRUZ, Calif. The Design Automation Conference (DAC) has announced that Joe Costello, former CEO of Cadence Design Systems, will open this year's DAC July 24 with a keynote entitled, "iPod or Iridium: which one are you going to be?"
Costello's address, scheduled for 2 pm at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, will fit the conference's "multimedia" theme, organizers said. The address will focus on today's macro consumer trends and probe what consumers are really looking for.
Costello is chairman, co-founder and an investor in Orb Networks, which offers a product that provides access to digital media from a home PC through a web interface. He also serves as CEO and chairman of mechanical CAD provider Think3. Costello serves as chairman of other companies, including Readio, Abazab and SpeakESL, and is on the board of Mercury Computer.
Costello's speech is part of the "free Monday" DAC program. A complete listing of the DAC program can be found on line.
