MANHASSET, N.Y. Communications semiconductor supplier Kalon Semiconductor Inc. has completed a Series A financing for $10.9 million. The round was led by Enterprise Partners Venture Capital and includes Avalon Ventures, Cisco Systems Inc., and Mission Ventures.
Ali Hedayati, formerly GM of Intel's Centrino Wireless Product Division and a Kalon co-founder, has been named CEO.
Kalon Semiconductor (San Diego) develops high data rate, standards-agnostic connectivity products for wireless and wired applications. The company's ultra-wideband (UWB) architecture is suited for a broad range of applications including in-home multimedia, wireless USB, wireless high definition video (HDMI), and Bluetooth 3.0.
Founded in 2005, Kalon Semiconductor draws on a wireless architecture developed by Dr. Ismail Lakkis, chief technical officer and co-founder of Kalon. Dr. Lakkis is a pioneer in the wireless area and has played an active role in the implementation and standardization of several successful wireless initiatives.
