SAN FRANCISCO Oasis Tooling, a two-year old startup created to commercialize verification and computational geometry infrastructure technology for companies adopting the Open Artwork Systems Interchange Standard (Oasis) as a replacement for the GDSII file format standard, plans to appoint 25-year EDA veteran Roger Bitter vice president of worldwide sales next week, Oasis said Friday (Aug. 25).
Bitter will be charged with taking the lead in establishing a formal sales operation, Oasis said.
Oasis, which became a Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) standard in 2002, remains a long way from displacing GDSII. Oasis Tooling announced earlier this month that it was introducing new technology to help speed adoption of Oasis, which promises as much as a tenfold reduction in the side of design data compared with GDSII.
Bitter was previously CEO of Y Explorations Inc. Prior to that, he served as vice president of sales for Teseda Corp., vice president of sales and marketing for Xpedion Design Systems from and vice president of sales for Magma Design Automation Inc. He has also served in senior executive positions for Summit Design Inc., Compass Japan KK, Silicon Compiler Systems, Silicon Design Labs and Mentor Graphics Corp.
"For much of my career, I have had to build sales organizations from scratch, but Oasis Tooling has given me the luxury of an established customer list and revenue stream," Bitter said. "Oasis Tooling is positioned to maximize the potential of the Oasis standard and deliver problem-solving tools to the semiconductor design industry."
