SAN JOSE, Calif. The IC lull is expected to hit the silicon foundry industry, warned Gartner Inc.
"The market for semiconductor foundry services faces a possible inventory correction in late 2006, but long-term growth prospects remain favorable," according to Gartner (Stamford, Conn.), a research firm.
Worldwide foundry sales grew 28.3 percent in the first half of 2006, according to Gartner.
Right now, the overall IC market appears to be stuck in what some call a "muted" business environment. But recently, Gartner raised its semiconductor forecast to 10.9 percent growth for 2006, up from 10.6 percent in its previous forecast.
