SAN FRANCISCO Electronic system level (ESL) EDA startup Carbon Design Systems Thursday (Sept. 14) announced the completion of $5 million in Series D venture funding from previous investors Matrix Partners, Flagship Ventures and Commonwealth Capital.
According to Carbon (Waltham, Mass.), this round of investment brings the company's total financing to $25 million. Each venture capital firm holds an equal stake in the company, Carbon said.
"Carbon will use this funding to drive new product development, with our recently announced Replay being the first in a new round of innovations brought to market," said Rick Lucier, Carbon president and CEO. "Expect to see Carbon setting the benchmark in software validation by which others are measured."
Carbon said Edgar Masri, recently named president and CEO of networking technology vendor 3Com Corp., will remain on the company's board of directors.
