COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. NanoOpto Corp. and Moxtek Inc. have formed a joint development partnership to collaborate on nano-fabrication of optical components for consumer applications.
The pact gives NanoOpto access to Moxtek's eight-inch wafer fab and development facilities in Orem, Utah.
Moxtek was formed in 1986 by Brigham Young University researchers, and originally focused on X-ray components. With the advent of its ProFlux MicroWire polarizer line, the company diversified into optical components such as polarizers for rear-projection TVs.
NanoOpto (Somerset, N.J.) has developed a range of communication components and optical subassemblies that employ nano-fabrication techniques. Early products have included polarizers, lens arrays and isolators. The partners will develop new products for high-volume the consumer electronic market, including nano-polarizers, nano-trim retarders and beam splitters.
