SINGAPORE Foundry Chartered Semiconductor said it is reshuffling its top management to strengthen links between its manufacturing and sales operations.
Chief executive Chia Song Hwee described the shake-up as a "realignment" that would bolster Chartered's ability to grow in an increasingly competitive foundry market.
"With the growth and evolution of the semiconductor and foundry markets, we recognize that our customers need tighter integration between technology, customer engagement and manufacturing in order to better address their time-to-market demands," he said.
With that in mind, former senior vice president of fab operations Kai Chai Yang will now head up worldwide sales and marketing, overseeing all customer service, sales, and strategic alliance activities. Replacing Yang is chief technology officer Simon Yang, who will oversee Chartered's manufacturing strategy.
Chartered has also named Mike Rekuc, who spent the last four years overseeing customer strategy in Singapore, as the new president of the Americas region, and filled a newly created position of vice president of business development and global accounts with Dominque Simon.
