NetLogic Microsystems Inc. said Wednesday (Oct. 24) it will acquire privately-held Aeluros Inc., a fabless supplier of network interface and chip technologies.
NetLogic said it expects to pay $57 million in cash for Aeluros once the transaction closes. Both companies are based in Mountain View, Calif.
Founded in 2001, Aeluros supplies 10-Gbit Ethernet interface technologies. The interface technology is used in so-called "knowledge-based processors," which NetLogic designs. NetLogic said the acquisition will allow it to incorporate ultra-low power technology from Aeluros into next-generation processors.
Separately, NetLogic announced net income of $3.5 million in the third quarter on net revenues of $27.5 million. Income totaled $2.3 million in the previous quarter.
