SAN JOSE, Calif. -- ASE Test Ltd., one of the world's largest independent providers of semiconductor testing services, said net revenues totaled $128.2 million for Q3, down 6 percent from $136.8 million in the like period a year ago and up 11 percent from $115.0 million in the previous quarter.
Net income in Q3 of 2007 was $38.1 million, compared with net income of $37.4 million in Q3 of 2006 and net income of $2.8 million in Q2 of 2007. Diluted earnings per share were $0.37 in 3Q07, compared with diluted earnings per share of $0.37 in 3Q06 and diluted earnings per share of $0.03 in 2Q07.
The decrease in net revenue was primarily due to lower testing volumes, according to Taiwan's ASE Test. The company's testing revenues for 3Q07 were $99.2 million, down 12 percent from 3Q06 and up 14 percent from 2Q07.
IC packaging revenues for 3Q07 were $29.0 million, up 20 percent from 3Q06 and up 3 percent from 2Q07.
ASE Test is set to go provide. IC-assembly and test provider Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (ASE Inc.) has acquired the remaining shares of ASE Test, a chip-testing house. The estimated total acquisition value for this transaction is approximately $784 million.
