SAN FRANCISOChip gear vendor KLA-Tencor Corp. reported a GAAP net income of $19 million, or 11 cents per diluted share, on revenue of $533 million for its first fiscal quarter, ended Sept. 30, the company said Thursday (Oct. 30).
GAAP net income was down 75 percent sequentially from $76 million in the previous quarter and down 78 percent year-to-year from $88 million in the same period of 2007.
Revenue declined 10 percent sequentially from $591 million in the previous quarter and 23 percent year-to-year from $693 million from the same period of 2007.
"Macroeconomic uncertainty, declining consumer demand, and limited access to financing are having an adverse impact on semiconductor capital equipment spending across all end markets and geographies," said Rick Wallace, KLA-Tencor CEO, in a statement.
Wallace added that KLA-Tencor (Milpitas, Calif.) was implementing actions to reduce costs.
