SAN FRANCISCOMemory technology licensor Rambus Inc. said Thursday (Dec. 4) that the U.S. International Trade Commision (ITC) has opened an investigation into possible infringement of the company's patents by graphics chip vendor Nvidia Corp. and other companies whose products incorporate the accused Nvidia products.
Rambus (Los Altos, Calif.) said the accused products include Nvidia products that incorporate DDR, DDR2, DDR3, LPDDR, GDDR, GDDR2, and GDDR3 memory controllers, including graphics processors and media and communications processors.
Rambus requested the investigation by the ITC last month. The company said its complaint seeks an exclusion order barring the importation, sale for importation, or sale after importation of products that allegedly infringe nine Rambus patents.
