Cavium Networks Inc. has completed its acquisition of W&W Communications Inc. for approximately $19.3 million.
This acquisition, which was announced last month, launches Cavium Networks (Mountain View, Calif.) into the video processor market.
W&W's PureVu family of video processors and modules incorporate technology that ''produce perceptual lossless video quality and deliver practically zero latency with low power and cost.''
Cavium Networks is a provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing in networking, communications, storage, wireless and security applications.
Recently, the company said it expects revenue for the fourth quarter of 2008 to be approximately 10 percent lower than third quarter revenue of $24.5 million.
Revenue in the third quarter of 2008 was $24.5 million, a 14 percent sequential increase from the $21.6 million reported for the second quarter of 2008 and an increase of 73 percent from the $14.2 million reported for the third quarter of last year.
Net income for the third quarter of 2008, on a GAAP basis, was $1.8 million, or $0.04 per share, compared to net income of $2.1 million, or $0.05 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2008, and net income of $1.3 million, or $0.03 per share in the third quarter of last year.
