SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Wire bonder expert Michael Whitehead has established a new company.
The company--dubbed Microelectronic Wire Bonding Consulting (MEW Consulting)--will provide consulting, process development, equipment repair and other technical assistance on legacy back-end semiconductor assembly equipment being phased out.
''There is a need for ongoing technical assistance for legacy semiconductor equipment even after original manufacturers have ended their life and no longer support them,'' said Whitehead, who is president of MEW Consulting, in a statement.
''MEW Consulting can fill the void by providing a wide variety of process development and support services to keep legacy equipment working until users determine they need to invest in new equipment,'' he said.
Whitehead worked for 28 years at Kulicke & Soffa in various engineering support positions including field service engineer, senior applications engineer as well as senior customer support engineer.
