SAN FRANCISCOEverspin Technologies, the MRAM spinoff from Freescale Semiconductor Inc., Wednesday (Feb. 4) named former Altius Solutions co-founder and Cadence Design Systems Inc. executive Aurangzeb Khan president and CEO.
"I could not be more excited to join Everspin at a time when the company is strongly expanding its product portfolio and ramping revenue growth," Khan said in a statement.
Khan co-founded Altius and managed it through its merger with Simplex Solutions. He
served as executive vice president and general manager of the SoC foundry business at Simplex through its initial public offering in May 2001 and later acquisition by Cadence in June 2002.
At Cadence, Khan served as corporate vice president of the Strategic Planning group and, earlier, as corporate vice president and general manager of the design services business. He has also held several engineering and general management positions at Cirrus Logic, Tandem Computers (now part of HP) and Fairchild.
EverSpin was spun out from Freescale last June and is backed by a group of venture capital investors. In November, the company rolled out its first products, a line of 1- and 4-megabit MRAMs, and debuted its first 0.13-micron MRAM--a 1-Mbit device geared for storage and other markets.
