SAN FRANCISCOEDA and IP vendor Synopsys Inc. has added a flexible multicore processing technology and new runtime optimizations to the latest release of PrimeTime static timing analysis tool, enabling up to 2X faster runtime, the company said Thursday (Feb. 12).
The multicore processing technology makes more effective use of both single-core and multicore processors across compute server farms, harnessing their compute potential, according to Synopsys (Mountain View, Calif.)
New runtime optimizations available in the new release, PrimeTime 2008.12, allow designers to run faster time and signal integrity analysis on large designs early in the design process, reducing design closure iterations, Synopsys said.
The improvements work in concert to deliver up to 2X faster runtime and have been confirmed on a suite of leading semiconductor companies' designs ranging in size from 1 million to 50 million instances, Synopsys said.
PrimeTime 2008.12 is available now to all current PrimeTime customers, Synopsys said, and includes quad-core licensing as a standard feature.
