SAN FRANCISCOAdvanced Micro Devices Inc. Wednesday (May 6) announced that the company has been reorganized around four operating groups.
The new groups are designed around products, technology, marketing and customers, AMD (Sunnyvale, Calif.) said. The new structure is designed to optimize AMD's operations and further integrate the company's x86 processor and graphics technologies, AMD said.
"With these changes, we are putting the right organization in place to help enable the future of computing," said Dirk Meyer, AMD president and CEO, in a statement.
AMD said Randy Allen, senior vice president of the computing solutions group, has decided to leave the company.
The products group, led by Rick Bergman, will be responsible for delivering all of AMD's platforms and products and aligning the graphics and microprocessor product development groups into a single unified organization, AMD said.
An advanced technology group, headed by Chekib Akrout, will focus on developing AMD's future technology innovation, the company said.
A marketing group, led by Nigel Dessau, is charged with driving cohesive and consistent external messaging across all of AMD's products and platforms, the company said.
The customer group, led by Emilio Ghilardi, will be a sales organization is responsible for expanding AMD's customer relationships globally, the company said.
