When companies have shortages, they must turn to the gray market to find parts. The fakes are too sophisticated for brokers to detect so supply chain pedigree becomes crucial - if you don't know where these parts have come from, you can't know if they are trustworthy.

As more & more of U.S. Industries get "out-sourced" (get sent overseas) ... this could become a growing problem possibly up to and including the Military Systems (???). Could be a "negative benefit" to the U.S. as a result of Out-Sourcing and Globalization. Wonderful.
