SAN FRANCISCOHewlett-Packard Co. Monday (March 8) debuted an advertisement for its own tablet computer platform, slate, one day after Apple Inc. choose the Academy Awards broadcast as the place to air the first advertisement for its much-anticipated iPad tablet.
In a blog posting on the HP (Palo Alto, Calif.) made public the Slate advertisement in a blog posting on the company's website.
The blog posting also contains a dig at Apple. A video demo shows that the slate supports Adobe Inc.'s Flash software, something Apple products do not do.
Apple's iPad is scheduled to be available April 3, with pre-ordering set to commence on Friday. HP has said slate platforms would hit the market sometime in 2010.
