LONDON Renesas Technology Corp. and Cavium Networks Inc. have announced that they are working together to deliver joint reference designs that incorporate quad-search ternary content addressable memory with Octeon multicore processors for networking.
The reference designs are based on the Octeon MIPS64 processor family and Renesas Quad-TCAMs and are targeted at high-end router and switch applications. Renesas said the companies will separately and jointly market these reference designs to their OEM customers.
The reference designs include board designs along with optimized software drivers, APIs, and example applications. The combination addresses a variety of applications, including packet forwarding, deep packet inspection, security management and quality of service.
