SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) said it plans to build a new 300-mm wafer fab, according to reports.
The fab, to be located in the Central Taiwan Science Park, will support 28-nm processes, according to reports. The fab will cost some $3 billion.
Construction is set to start in the middle of this year.
Leading semiconductor foundry TSMC posted a net income of NT$33.66 billion ($1.1 billion) on revenue of NT$92.19 billion ($2.9 billion), the company said Monday (April 26).
