BILLERICA, Mass. --- Mykrolis Corp. fourth quarter revenues were $46.5 million, a 3% decline from $47.7 million in the third quarter of 2002 and a 28% increase from the comparable quarter a year ago. The company recorded a net loss of $8.2 million compared to a net loss of $14.5 million a year before.
For fiscal 2002, revenues were $178.4 million, down 17% from fiscal 2001. The net loss was $31.8 million compared to $67.6 million in the 2001 year.
"The results for the quarter exceeded our expectations, as sales of filtration products remained firm despite year-end shutdowns at some customers," said William Zadel, chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement. He added that the company had preserved its cash position, having $74 million on hand at year end.
"Reflecting continued softness and uncertainty in the industry, we anticipate first quarter sales in the range of $39 to $46 million," Zadel said.
