NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Conexant Systems Inc. today announced an expansion of its broadcast video offering to include new encoders that cut the cost of "TV-out" solutions for displaying high-definition television (HDTV) on PC systems, DVD players, game consoles, and other new systems.
Conexant said its CX25872/3 and CX25874/5 video encoders feature high-performance TV-out capability with 10-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs), support for resolutions from 320-by-200 to 1,024-by-768, and programmable overscan compensation capability ranging from 0-to-25%.
"With the addition of our new CX25872/3 and CX25874/5 products, customers can quickly bring to market new TV-out solutions that include the latest adaptive flicker-filtering and HDTV features, at price points for every segment," said Greg Fischer, vice president of computer products for Conexant's Digital Infotainment Division.
The CX25872/3 and CX25874/5 encoders are sampling now with volume production scheduled to begin in Conexant's fiscal third quarter, which ends in June. The encoders are housed in a 64-pin thin quad flat pack (TQFP) making them the smallest and most integrated single-chip encoders available, according to the Newport Beach company.
In quantities of 10,000, the CX25872/3 is priced at $7 each. The CX25874/5 is priced at $10 in similar quantities.
