PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Bermai Inc., a supplier of chips for high-speed wireless local-area networking applications, has received $15 million in its first round of venture funding.
The round was co-led by Mobius Venture Capital, Blueprint Ventures, and Advanced Technology Ventures (ATV). The funding will be used to help launch Bermai's single-chip product, based on the 802.11a standard.
The 802.11a standard calls for wireless data at speeds of 54-megabits-per-second at the 5-GHz spectrum. Bermai's CMOS-based chip will support the OFDM modulation scheme.
Founded in March 2001, Bermai was formerly known as Bergana Communications. Bruce Sanguinetti, wireless industry veteran andformer president and co-founder of BreezeCOM, is Bermai's president and chief executive.
