FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- In a move to strengthen its European presence in chip fabs and other manufacturing facilities, Advanced Energy Industries Inc. today announced it has purchased Dressler HF Technik GmbH in Stolberg, Germany, which is a privately-held supplier of radio-frequency power systems for plasma-based equipment and processes.
The amount paid at closing was $16.75 million, and Advanced Energy said it may pay an additional $3.25 million if Dressler is able to achieve key business objectives by March 30, 2003.
"We are excited to be adding such a strong player to our European infrastructure," stated Doug Schatz, chairman and CEO of Advanced Energy, which suppliers of power systems and integrated technologies for wafer fab tools.
Advanced Energy said Dressler's product portfolio includes a wide range of power levels and RF frequencies, which will expand its own offering for semiconductor, data storage, and flat-panel display equipment. Additionally, the Fort Collins company said it hopes to leverage the Dressler operation to move into new market opportunities. Advanced Energy noted that the German supplier is already shipping systems in the laser and medical markets.
