PHOENIX--On Semiconductor here today said it was introducing the broadest series of single-gate logic products in Advanced High-Speed CMOS (AHC) and Very High-Speed CMOS (VHC) performance ranges. The initial wave of products consists of 15 devices with AND, NAND, OR, and XOR gates.
On Semiconductor--a spinoff from Motorola Inc.'s Semiconductor Products Sector--said it plans to add 13 products to the AHC and VHC series during the next few quarters of 2000. The new logic products are housed in small SOT-353 (SC-88A) five-lead packages, which are about 3% the size of a 20-lead SOIC package, according to the company. This package can fit in a space of 4.2 mm2.
"The introduction of these new devices provides designers with problem-solving options late in the design cycle or in designs where board space is critical," said William Schromm, director of operations for the Standard Logic Business at On Semiconductor.
The new products have a typical propagation delay of 3.7 nanoseconds at 5 volts. The input and output structure design provides design protection even when input voltages of up to 7 volts are applied, said On Semiconductor. This aspect also enables the logic chips to be used as interfaces for 5-V circuits in 3-V environments.
Suggested retail pricing for one-gate logic products is 13 cents each in quantities up to 3,000. On Semiconductor said suggested pricing for other functions ranges between 20 and 24 cents in similar quantities.
