CAMARILLO, Calif .-- Coming off its record fiscal 1999, Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. here reported that for the first quarter of fiscal 2000, revenues were $89.2 million, representing an increase of 47% over the first quarter of fiscal 1999 and an increase of 11% over the fourth quarter of fiscal 1999, when the company's revenues were $60.7 million (see Oct. 18, 1999, story).
Net income for the quarter was was $23.6 million, or 14 cents per share. In the first quarter last year, Vitesse had net income of $14.6 million, or 9 cents per share.
Lou Tomasetta, president and CEO, said the maker of communications and ATE chips was firmly on the track that brought last fiscal year's record results.
"The quarter demonstrated strength across all of our communication product lines," said "Both our transmission WAN and networking Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet product lines contributed double-digit quarter-over-quarter revenue improvement." He added that the just completed quarter, ended Dec. 31, 1999, was "the greatest design-win quarter in our history."
