AUSTIN, Tex. -- Silicon Laboratories Inc. today announced the Si4136 ISM RF synthesizer, a highly integrated CMOS RF synthesizer for ISM-band applications.
The Si4136 substantially reduces the number of external components required to implement a complete synthesizer solution, reducing required board space by as much as 60%. This not only improves power efficiency and performance, but also reduces overall system cost.
The single-chip Si4136 operates in the 2.0- to 2.6-GHz range and is the optimum solution for ISM-band applications such as IEEE 802.11-standard wireless LANs, wireless modems, wireless headsets, cordless phones, and security systems.

The Si4136 provides a complete CMOS RF synthesizer in a single low-profile, small-outline 24-pin package. The chip is specifically designed for applications that operate in the high-frequency ISM band and can synthesize frequencies as high as 2.6 GHz. Silicon Labs' high-frequency RF synthesizer family includes other products that are optimized for unique frequency plan requirements in the 2.0 GHz range.
The Si4136 ISM RF Synthesizer is priced at $7 in quantities of 10,000. Samples are available now and volume production will begin in the second quarter of 2000.
