CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Microchip Technology Inc. here has expanded its portfolio of stand-alone analog components for digital designers with the introduction of the MCP300X family of four 10-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).
Applications for the new devices include data acquisition, instrumentation and measurement,industrial PCs, industrial automation, portable instrumentation, home medical appliances, automotive navigation and CD motor control.
According to the company, the MCP300X features throughput of 200,000 samples per second, low power of 500 microamps active (MCP3001 only) and 5.0 nanoamps standby, and wide supply voltage of 2.7 to 5.5 volts. It functions under the extended industrial temperature range is --40C to 85C. Other features include 1 LSB DNL and 1 LSB INL maximum at 200,000 samples per second, and a serial output with an industry-standard SPI bus interface.
The MCP300X family is available in 1-, 2-, 4-, and 8-input channel versions and is offered in a wide variety of packages and pin counts. Pricing in 1,000-unit quantities ranges from $1.75 to $2.02 each. Volume quantities are now available from stock.
