HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. -- Standard Microsystems Corp. here announced today it is offering its COM20020ILJP3V Arcnet controller with 3.3-volt operation. This will allow current users of the device an upgrade path for 3.3-V operation over industrial temperature range.
Fred Weber, SMSC's director of strategic marketing for embedded products, said, "The COM20020, with its operation over an extended temperature range at 3.3-V, is now the ideal part for embedded LAN applications. The COM20020 has already been successfully implemented in a wide variety of products such as industrial controllers, building automation systems, ATMs, hand-held POS terminals, video games, time clocks, mass storage systems, and Windows CE applications using x86 platforms. The additional functionality of 3.3-V operation of the COM20020 will provide expanded opportunities and greater flexibility for designers of embedded applications."
The COM20020 data sheet has been updated to indicate 3.3-V operation over the industrial temperature range (-40C to +85C) and is available from SMSC's web site.
The COM20020 is in production now and is available in 28-pin PLCC or 24-pin DIP packages. Prototype quantities are available from stock, with production quantities available in 12-16 weeks ARO. The unit price is under $8 in 10,000-piece quantities.
