SAN JOSE-- SiliconX, an electronic design automation portal, today kicked off a partnership program with semiconductor EDA and intellectual property (IP) companies that plan to participate in the site's launch next month.
Members of the Silicon Partner Program include Artisan Components, Faraday Technology, Integrated Silicon Systems, Mentor Graphics Corp., MIPS Technologies, Monterey Design Systems, Synchronicity, Tensilica, and Virtual Silicon Technology. Each member will have a dedicated presence on the business-to-business portal's services "mall."
Semiconductor foundries Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and United Microelectronics Corp. are also members, as are assembly and test services firms Artest Corp. and Siliconware Precision Industries Ltd. Industry organizations Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA), Reusable Application-Specific IP Developers (Rapid) and Virtual Component Exchange (VCX) are partners.
"Our partners are changing the face of the semiconductor industry by utilizing the power and reach of the Internet," said Judy Owen, chairman and CEO of SiliconX. "We believe that our partnerships will help bring the benefits of electronic commerce to the IC design community."
The SiliconX.com portal was designed to be a resource for engineers and managers responsible for new chip design, manufacturing and production. It is scheduled to launch during the Design Automation Conference in June (see March 29 story). Using the infrastructure of SiliconX.com, member companies will offer design information, tools and services, aimed at facilitating system-on-chip (SoC) design through manufacturing and production.
