SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- Fairchild Semiconductor International Corp. today said it has trimmed cycle times for deliveries of logic and interface products by 65% to 90 days.
"New tools and processes will further reduce our cycle time on selected products to 75 days by the end of this year," promised W.T. Greer, senior vice president and general manager of Fairchild's Interface & Logic Group. Fairchild has cut cycle times on interface and logic devices by two-thirds in the past three years, according to Greer.
Fairchild claims to be the second largest supplier of standard logic ICs, next to archrival Texas Instruments Inc. of Dallas. About 49% of Fairchild's $436.7 million sales in the second quarter this year came from products in the Interface & Logic Group.
