Texas Instruments Inc. Tuesday predicted that its analog line driver shipments this year will allo eight million ADSL ports to be deployed in the field in 2000.
That total is 25 times greater than TI's shipments in 1999, according to the company.
TI, Dallas, also said that its analog line drivers and ADSL chipsets will be in 45 percent of the ASDL equipment worldwide, based on a report from IDC.
The company quoted IDC analyst Sean Lavey as saying that TI was poised to become a leading semiconductor player in the ADSL chip market with three million complete chipsets and a total of eight million line drivers being shipped this year.
TI (stock: TXN) said it will double shipments of ADSL chipsets in the second half of 2000 to about two million units compared to one million in the first six months of the year.
