SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- Fairchild Semiconductor International here today announced that it has sold its standard military analog chip lines to component distribution giant Arrow Electronics Inc. of Melville, N.Y. for undisclosed price.
Under the terms, Fairchild will cease production of its chips for military and aerospace applications, but the Arrow/Zeus Electronics business unit will begin providing sales and marketing services for these products. This agreement also allows Arrow/Zeus to provide Fairchild's standard military analog products to key customers, such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop/Grumman, and Boeing.
"We are very attuned to the needs of our military and aerospace customer base," said Sean Fernandez, president of Arrow/Zeus. "Because we recognize that obsolescence will continue to be a huge challenge for our customers, this agreement should allow us to provide the ongoing support required to extend the life of many Fairchild standard military analog products," he said.
