Mitel said its semiconductor sales grew 146 percent in the past quarter, ended June 26, as a result of the Kanata, Ontario, company's purchase of Plessey Semiconductors earlier this year.
Mitel's semiconductor sales totaled $154.7 million in the three-month period vs. $63 million in the same quarter last year. Half of Mitel's revenue now comes from semiconductor products with the rest coming from communications systems. A year ago -- prior to the Plessey acquisition -- 35 percent of Mitel's sales came from semiconductors.
Overall, Mitel MLT said its sales totaled $310.6 million in the quarter, a rise of 71 percent over the $182 million reported last year. The company's net income slipped 20 percent to $14.6 million compared with $18.2 million in the quarter a year ago.
