FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Maker Communications Inc. here nearly doubled its revenues in the third quarter compared to a year ago, and turned a $1 million operating loss in that period into a $830,000 profit, the company reported today.
Revenues for the third quarter, ended Sept. 30, were $4.1 million, up 83% from the $2.2 million reported in the third quarter of 1998 and up 13% sequentially
Net income of $830,000 was 4 cents per share (diluted) versus of a loss of 18 cents per share (diluted) last year. Operating income was $118,000 compared to a $1.1 million operating loss for the same period in 1998.
William N. Giudice, chairman and CEO, attributed the growth to more design wins for its network processors, including an "increasing number of equipment vendors using our processor as a platform for developing their own proprietary applications."
