NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Kyzen Corp. here today announced an exclusive marketing pact with DuPont Corp. for a high-performance solvent, called Xolvone Dimethyl-2-Piperidone (DMPD), developed by DuPont.
The multi-year market development agreement covers cleaning applications in backend wafer and metal substrate processing. Kyzen said Xolvone DMPD-based products can be produced in its existing facilities and sold through its sales channels. The Nashville company hopes to commercialize products for several applications in the year 2000.
"Partnering with DuPont to bring an important new technology to our core markets is another step in our strategic plan to market new niche product lines that complement our existing technology and are expected to contribute to future revenue growth," said Kyle J. Doyel, president and chief executive officer of Kyzen.
Xolvone DMPD was developed and patented by DuPont as an alternative to other polar aprotic solvents. DuPont said Xolvone DMPD has demonstrated excellent solvency properties while offering lower volatility than N-Methyl Pyrrolidone and other high-performance solvents. The solvent is also water miscible and biodegradable, according to DuPont.
