SAN JOSE -- RocketChips Inc. today announced it has opened a technical sales and engineering support office here, giving the Minneapolis-based maker of analog, RF and mixed-signal ICs a needed presence in the booming high-performance networking and communications markets of Silicon Valley.
In addition to the new San Jose office, RocketChips operates design centers in Minneapolis; Austin, Tex.; and Ames, Iowa.
"The opening and staffing of this office is a strategic step for us in meeting the demands of our growing customer base in Silicon Valley," said Tim Hemken, director of sales and marketing. "We will continue to expand this office by adding experienced personnel in both applications engineering and technical sales."
Running the new office will be Jim McIntyre, who joins RocketChips from Advanced Micro Devices Inc., where he was program manager for external partnerships at AMD's Networking Products Division. As manager of application engineering at RocketChips, McIntyre will be responsible for growing the company's business in the Silicin Valley region. RocketChips designs chips and develops intellectual property for the high-speed communications market.
