NEWBURY PARK, Calif. -- Semtech Corp. here today announced an expansion of its design center in Research Triangle Park, N.C.
The facility, which opened in 1998, has been expanded from its original 4,700 square feet to 7,700 square feet. In conjunction with Semtech's Glasgow, Scotland, and Santa Clara, Calif., design resources, it supports the company's power-management and high-speed communications products.
Currently, the design center houses 19 engineers and staff. Semtech is seeking to hire 15 new engineers. The company believes the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area is a prime location to attract analog design talent from the Eastern half of the country.
"There are so many geographical advantages to the location of this facility," said Larry King, the design center's manager, "not the least of which is its mild climate and proximity to major universities. As the Silicon Valley of the East Coast, Research Triangle Park offers a beautiful alternative within a technology-rich community. Semtech's rapid growth and successes in the market have afforded us the ability to quickly build the premier analog design center east of the Mississippi."
