SHELTON, Conn. -- TranSwitch Corp. here and Datum Inc. of Irvine, Calif., have begun working together to provide reference design solutions utilizing their respective technologies to communications OEMs.
The reference designs are based on TranSwitch's high-speed VLSI devices and Datum's synchronization, timing and frequency systems. In addition, Datum will utilize Sonet/SDH technology developed by TranSwitch to expand its product line for Voice-over-IP (VoIP) embedded applications.
"Datum's expertise in developing synchronization and timing solutions, combined with TranSwitch's leading-edge knowledge of developing innovative high-speed VLSI semiconductor solutions will provide customers the basis for complete systems solutions that can be incorporated into their own products," said Santanu Das, president and CEO of TranSwitch.
Designs using the TranSwitch-Datum technologies will provide exceptional performance, a full complement of diagnostic capabilities, and compliance with ANSI and ITU specifications, said Das.
Erik van der Kaay, CEO of Datum, added that Datum's SmarTiming technology will enhance VoIP transmission integrity while addressing time-to-market issues for OEM customers. "Using TranSwitch's Sonet/SDH technology will allow us to rapidly expand our product offerings to address emerging VoIP network applications," he said.
