LONDON -- Emblaze Semiconductor Ltd. and M-Systems' Fortress Security Division, both based in Israel, are collaborating to develop processor architectures with tighter security functions than available with existing multimedia processors for the mobile market.
As part of the agreement, Emblaze will integrate M-Systems' SuperMAP cryptographic coprocessors, software protocols and application program interfaces (APIs) into its next generation multimedia processors.
The companies say the handset architecture will provide the tightest digital rights, device and connection security, while maintaining low power and high multimedia processing performance.
The SuperMAP range of low power cryptographic coprocessors implements public key cryptography such as RSA and Elliptic Curve (with single step multiply and divide), as well as conventional symmetrical data encryption and data hashing algorithms.
The patented cores execute cryptographic functions in hardware while being driven by software.
