TIBURON, Calif. The PC graphics chip market experienced a seasonal decline in the second quarter of 2004, according to Jon Peddie Research, based here.
Total shipments of 57.35 units represented a decline of 5.2 percent, compared to the previous quarter, according to the Tiburon-based research firm. In all, the graphics market saw a growth of 12.9 percent, compared to the same period last year.
"Discrete desktop graphics saw the steepest decline at 19.2 percent. Integrated graphics chipsets for desktops increased 5.5 percent and discrete mobile graphics increased 3.5 percent. Mobile integrated graphics chipsets declined 0.6 percent," according to the firm.
"Clearly, the low end discreet graphics devices are being replaced by integrated graphics chipsets. In addition, the mobile market is showing continued growth," it added.
